A north Texas man who was part of a gang that robbed cell phone stores is taking a plea deal.
Court records show Eric Parrish is pleading guilty to federal charges of interference of commerce by robbery and unlawful brandishing of a firearm in furtherance of a crime.
While he was initially charged with the holdups of 10 different stores, the court papers show Parrish is admitting to the Dec. 9, 2018 holdup of the AT&T store at 5900 S. Hulen in Fort Worth and the Jan. 12, 2019 armed robbery of the AT&T store at 8520 Abrams Road in Dallas.
Police say the gang had a similar method in the holdups, using masks and brandishing guns. In at least one of the robberies, the employees of a cell phone store were bound with zip ties.
Two of the charges carry possible 20-year prison terms, two more carry possible 7 year sentences. In plea deals, they Government typically recommends the sentences run concurrently, although the judge has discretion.
The four remaining defendants are scheduled for trial in February.
