In a heated exchange during a House Oversight Committee hearing on civil rights and transgender rights, Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., and Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, clashed dramatically.

The confrontation escalated when Crockett criticized Mace's rhetoric about transgender people, leading Mace to challenge Crockett by asking if she wanted to "take it outside".

The exchange was marked by interruptions and attempts by committee chair James Comer to restore order.

Mace later clarified on social media that her remark was not intended as a call to violence but rather to take the conversation off the floor for a more constructive discussion.

Crockett, however, felt threatened and called Mace "an attention-seeking loser" on X.

The incident has sparked widespread debate about the decorum and conduct expected in congressional hearings. Both representatives have since defended their actions, with Mace emphasizing her commitment to women's rights and Crockett highlighting the importance of civil rights.
