As the COVID-19 hospitalization rate continues to rise, state-imposed restrictions could take effect in North Texas.
If Governor Greg Abbott's 15% threshold for COVID-19 hospitalizations continues for 7 days, elective surgeries go on hold and restaurants, retail stores and gyms drop to 50% capacity. Bars must close.
Dr. Emily Williams Knight is president of the Texas Restaurant Association and says restaurants are already suffering.
"We saw sales in September and October begin to recover. November has been incredibly challenging and they take a big step back. It was no where near the recovery we saw in August," Knight says.
More than 2,400 patients in North Texas hospitals have the virus.
