North Texas public schools received mixed grades in the Texas Education Agency’s delayed 2023 accountability ratings, with Dallas ISD earning a "C," while Fort Worth ISD was given a "D."
The TEA released its A–F ratings for school districts across the state after a months-long delay caused by a lawsuit filed by several districts. The legal challenge questioned the methodology used in the updated grading system.
In North Texas, Arlington, Mesquite, Irving, and Denton school districts also received a "C." Plano and Garland ISDs performed better, each earning a “B.”
Fort Worth ISD received a score of 65 out of 100. District officials responded by citing a strategic plan aimed at improving literacy and math outcomes. They emphasized a sense of urgency in efforts to accelerate student achievement.
