A 16-year-old has been arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old at a McKinney apartment complex last month.
McKinney Police say the juvenile suspect was taken into custody last week. Authorities did not release the suspect's identity because the person is a juvenile.
The arrest follows the June 20 arrest of 19-year-old Daniel Chavira, who was charged with criminal conspiracy to commit capital murder in the case.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 8:30 p.m. on June 19 at the Larkin Apartments in the 2301 block of West White Street. When officers arrived, they found 19-year-old Jose Herberto Martin inside a vehicle in the apartment complex parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck.
Martin was pronounced dead after the shooting.
Police said there are no additional outstanding suspects connected to the killing. The investigation remains active as detectives continue reviewing evidence.
