A North Texas woman survived a shark attack while on vacation in Florida.

A woman from North Texas remains hospitalized in Florida after she was bitten by a shark.

Lindsay Bruns of Flower Mound was vacationing with her family in the Florida Keys. They were out on a boat when she decided to go for a swim, but minutes later her husband says she was screaming for help - and he saw a lot of blood in the water.

When she was pulled from the water, Bruns had a large bite wound on her leg from her hip to just above her knee.

Her husband attempted to make a tourniquet and raced her to the shore where she was rushed to a local hospital. Reports say she's undergone numerous surgeries to save her leg.

Her husband tells a local paper that she's "doing very well, all things considered."
