The NTSB has released the public docket on the massive pileup on southbound I-35W during the early morning hours of February 11, 2021.
A light freezing rain that morning transformed the elevated portion of the roadway just north of downtown Fort Worth into a skating rink. Tractor-trailers unable to stop plowed into the stopped traffic in front of them, sending some vehicles airborne.
Six people, including two who had gotten out of their vehicles, were killed, and 36 others were hospitalized.
Among the facts contained in the public docket is that speeds topped 100 miles an hour before the massive pileup.
The NTSB says the docket contains factual information and does not reach any conclusions on the probable cause. That will be identified in the NTSB's final report, which will be issued at a later date.
