A nationally recognized pastor from Dallas is stepping aside. Dr. Tony Evans, the long-time pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship announced that he was leaving his job as senior pastor due to an unnamed sin.
The preacher said no crime was committed but he failed to exercise righteous judgment and fell short of that standard a number of years ago. Evans started the church in 1976 and has watched it grow to 10,000 members.
He said the decision followed multiple meetings with his family and church elders. There was no timeline given for a return, but he said he would step back for "spiritual recovery and healing."
