A former Lewisville police officer accused of sexual assault while on duty turned himself in on Monday.

Filemon Perez turned himself in at the Denton County Jail on Monday following allegations that he engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct with a citizen while in uniform during Thanksgiving week.

Police launched an investigation into the incident, which led to an arrest warrant issued last week on charges of sexual assault and official oppression. Perez resigned from the department last week after he was informed he would be terminated.

Police said this case is not connected to recent disciplinary actions involving other officers accused of misconduct in prostitution investigations. Perez, who joined the force in May 2022, had been serving as a patrol officer.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not disclosed further details about the alleged assault.
