It has come to light that the same former Lake Worth police officer who was sued for excessive force on Monday, was also responsible for the death of a teen in 2021.

On Monday, it was revealed that officer Jonathan Granado, who has since resigned, was sued in federal court for hitting a man who was running across a field during a chase with his patrol SUV back in November 2020.
Now it was revealed that Grandado shot and killed an 18-year-old who allegedly pointed a gun at officers during a chase in September of 2021.
Chief TJ Manoushagian says he suspended Granado for two weeks for the SUV incident but let him back on the force after the suspension.
"I stand by my decision to preserve the officer's job," Manoushagian said. "We would never have seasoned, experienced police officers if we fired them all after their first mistake."
Manoushagian says Granado resigned on his own and that his criminal case for the shooting has been submitted to a grand jury, which will decide to indict him or not.
