It's good news for Dallas' Deep Ellum neighborhood as the plan to reduce violent crime there is working, according to officials.

Safety concerns led restaurant and bar owners to work with the city council and police to come up with a plan to lower crime rates and keep people coming to popular area for night life.

Following input from residents, business owners and bartenders the plan was implemented and has had a positive impact. One of the plans was to add cameras. Over 60 cameras were put in place and have resulted in quicker apprehensions and ultimately, arrests.

In 2022, violent crime went down over 24% as compared to 2021 and non-violent crime dropped by at least 2.5%.

Additionally more parking spaces have been added in the district as well as an area wide valet service to help keep traffic flowing smoother.
