A Fort Worth woman and five children are in the hospital, being treated for what appeared to be carbon monoxide poisoning at a home in far south Fort Worth.

Officials say the first 9-1-1 calls came in just past 8 p.m. Monday and paramedics rushed to the home on Orleans Drive near Sycamore School and Crowley roads.

Officials say the six victims were rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Realizing the immediate danger to the family, Fort Worth firefighters did not even take time to put on their own breathing apparatus as they rushed into the house to begin bringing the victims outside.

Due to their own exposure to the carbon monoxide, five firefighters were also taken to the hospital.

Investigators believe the source of the gas was a car left running in the garage.
