Dallas nonprofit OurCalling is currently operating its second inclement weather shelter of the month at Fair Park’s Grand Place Building.
They offer refuge for more than 900 people against potentially fatal cold. The shelter provides not just a safe space, meals, and restroom facilities, but also vital mental health and medical care.
Now, the organization is asking for more than 100 volunteers to assist with tasks like serving coffee, meal prep, snack packing, and donation sorting. Families with kids 13 and older can serve at their warehouse, while adults 18+ can help at the shelter.
Also, warm clothing, particularly adult-sized sweatpants, is also needed.
