ARLINGTON (1080 KRLD) - Voters head to the polls Saturday in the municipal runoff elections, and among the races to be decided will be who will succeed Jeff Williams as mayor of Arlington.
Thanks to Arlington voters, Williams was unable to seek a fourth two-year term as mayor.
After Williams leaves office on the evening of June 29th, he and his family will take a vacation in Oklahoma -- and then he will get right down to work in his new role.
"I am going to be helping to start the Leadership Institute of the National Medal of Honor Museum," Williams tells KRLD.
The leadership institute will bring people in from all over the nation to study leadership and the values of the Medal of Honor recipients.
"To be learning more about what it means to be a leader in business, a leader in your community, a leader in your school, a leader in your nonprofits -- we're going to be having all of those areas being covered here in the Leadership Institute," says Williams.
Arlington was awarded the National Medal of Honor Museum in 2019, and it's scheduled to open in 2024.
As for who Williams will pass the gavel to as the new mayor of Arlington on June 29th, that'll be either lawyer Jim Ross or Councilman Michael Glaspie.
