Mandatory evacuation orders are now in place in areas of Palo Pinto County where the Storage Fire has now charred a thousand acres, and there's no sign of it stopping.

Officials say the fire is burning south of Possum Kingdom Lake and on Thursday the evacuation orders were issued for the Gaines Bend, Sportsman's World, and Hell's Gate communities.

The most immediate threat is to about 150 homes in Gaines Bend.

The Texas A&M Forest Service says the Storage Fire began Wednesday night. It's not clear what sparked it.

As of Friday morning there are no reports of any injuries and no reports of damage to structures. The fire remains about 70 percent out-of-control.

A Plano Fire-Rescue Wildland Team has been deployed to the fire zone to assist.
