WAXAHACHIE (1080 KRLD) - The parents of a baby in Waxahachie have been arrested after their child died due to the "toxic effects of methamphetamine".
The Ellis County Sherriff's Department says they were contacted on the 9th of March about a child at a home on Lone Star Road who was not breathing. CPR was performed on the young girl by first responders following which she was subsequently transported to Methodist Hospital in Midlothian where she later died.
The autopsy concluded that the cause of death was down to the "toxic effects of methamphetamine in an unsafe sleeping environment". The child's parents, Shawn Lankford (43) and Heather Williams (40), were subsequently arrested on murder charges.
They were booked into the Wayne McCollum Detention Center on June 7th, with their bond set to $1 million each.
