Keller ISD parents had the opportunity to address the school board on Thursday night for the first time since they learned of a proposal to split the district in two.

During the two-hour meeting, parents voiced their frustration and anger, overwhelmingly opposing the idea of dividing the district. Many argued the split was an extreme response to potential funding challenges and warned it would disadvantage about one-third of the district’s current students.

A few parents, acknowledged potential benefits, suggesting the proposal deserved further consideration.

Parents criticized Keller ISD for its handling of the situation, expressing frustration that they learned about the proposal through social media rather than official communication.

In response, district officials promised not to move forward with any decisions without seeking more community input.
