A man jailed for impersonating a police officer has now identified by Parker County Sheriff Russ Authier.
Officials say a man identified as Luciano Velazquez was arrested Saturday after a 9-1-1 caller gave them a head's up about an incident on Newsom Mound Road in a very rural stretch of Parker County between Springtown and Azle.
The caller said an unmarked truck was tailgating him with red-and-blue lights flashing on the dashboard. The driver of the truck was also swerving around to cut him off.
Deputies got out there and found Velazquez still at the scene. And why was he doing this? He claimed he was trying to "make people drive better" and that he'd done the same thing before.
Deputies put a stop to that by hauling Valazquez to the county jail. The Sheriff points out that impersonating a peace officer is a felony offense.
