Parker County Sheriff's Deputies arrested a woman on several criminal charges on Tuesday after getting a call from a neighborhood dealing with flooding from the nearby Brazos River.
Reports say a neighbor noticed the woman inside a home on Brazos Rock Road and called authorities because she knew the family that lived there was not at home.
Deputies used a boat from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to navigate the flooded streets to reach the residents. They found a 53-year-old man outside the home at 60-year-old Theresa Ann Salter of Millsap inside the home. They made contact with the homeowner, who told deputies Salter was not authorized to be there.
As deputies were escorting her from the residents, they say she gathered up several items she said were hers - including a zippered pouch. Deputies found a loaded handgun and methamphetamine inside that pouch.
Salter was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance penalty group one, criminal trespass of a habitation and unlawfully carrying a weapon.
