Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and his wife, Angela Paxton, are moving to unseal their divorce records after media organizations challenged efforts to keep the case private.

Court filings show the couple has agreed to make the records public, pending approval from a judge in Collin County.

The agreement follows legal action by news organizations arguing the records should be accessible because Ken Paxton is a statewide elected official and a current candidate for the U.S. Senate. The case had initially been sealed shortly after the divorce filing, limiting public access to court documents.

Attorneys for the Paxtons filed paperwork indicating they no longer oppose unsealing the records, though a judge must still formally sign off before the documents are released. The timing of the decision comes as Paxton campaigns for higher office, drawing increased public and media attention to his personal and political life.

Once approved, the unsealed records would become available through the court, bringing an end to the legal dispute over access and allowing the case to proceed under standard public court rules.
