Police: Person in custody after shooting at Royse City medical facility

A person is in custody after active shooter situation at a medical facility in Royse City Friday morning.

Royse City Police say they were called to the Royse City Medical Lodge facility off I-30 and Erby Campbell around 9:30 this morning.

The business provides short-term rehabilitation, post-hospital recovery, and long-term care services, according to the company's website.

Police say no one was injured and the scene is secure. There is an elementary school nearby and it was put on lockdown as the situation unfolded.

"We did have an active shooter," Royse City Chief of Police Kirk Aldridge tells KRLD. "We have the shooter in custody. No one inside the facility was injured."

A suspect has not yet been identified as the investigation continues.
