The once bankrupt Plano-based J.C. Penney is now spending serious money to advertise on Amazon's Thursday Night Football postgame show.

The retailer says its advertising strategy includes attempts to reach livev viewing audiences. The company has already said it plans to lay out a billion dollars by the end of 2025 to revive its iconic brand.

In May 2020, J.C. Penney filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and then the company was acquired by Simon and Brookfield, the operators of many major malls where Penney's stores are located.
