The Plano City Council will hold a public hearing tonight before voting to adopt a new plan for the city’s growth and development.

The new Comprehensive Plan is intended to replace Plano Tomorrow, a plan that the city dumped after residents rejected the idea and challenged in court.

The residents objected to the Plano Tomorrow plan’s dense development, especially new apartment complexes, which they say would undermine the city’s suburban character.

Now residents will get a chance to respond to the changes in the new plan.

The new plan calls for most of the new single-family homes to be townhomes, patio or small lot homes and cottages.
