A Plano home has been gutted by a fast-moving fire that broke out Thursday inside a home on Abernathy Street near Ballycastle Drive in the Trails of Glenwood development.
Neighbors standing along the sidewalks were shocked by the size of the flames as an inky black column of smoke rose high above the neighborhood.
Plano firefighters worked in the blistering heat for hours, rotating crews on and off through the afternoon to keep everyone hydrated and cool.
Just about all of the 2900-square-foot home is damaged or destroyed.
Fire commanders say the homeowners are out of town so no one was in the home when it burned. The cause is not yet determined.
