A Plano man has been convicted of manslaughter in a drunk driving crash that killed a North texas realtor, and he's been sentenced to the maximum penalty.

Reports say Raymond Caraway was drunk and behind the wheel of his pickup truck in May of 2021 when he blew through a red light at Dallas Parkway and Tennyson in Plano.

He smashed into a car driven by Plano real estate agent Charles Brazil Junior. The 55-year old Frisco community leader was killed by the impact.

Caraway, who had other drunk driving convictions, was put on trial for manslaughter, but prosecutors landed a big enhancement arguing that his pickup truck was a deadly weapon. That allowed them to ask for a bigger penalty and the jury responded sentencing Caraway to 20-years in prison.
