Plano man facing deportation for alleged war crimes in El Salvador from 1988

A Plano man could be deported back to El Salvador because one court from his former home country says he's a war criminal.

Arnoldo Vasquez says he is no war criminal. To the contrary he says he refused to obey orders and did not take part in the massacre of 10 Salvadorian citizens in 1988.

But the US Government says there is convincing evidence that Vasquez took part in a staged ambush and coverup of the murders, and wants his US citizenship revoked.

A trial judge sided with Vasquez, but the 5th Circuit Court reversed that ruling finding that while Vasquez may not have shot the citizens, the former military officer assisted and participated in the commission of the killings.

The US court ordered Vasquez stripped of citizenship.
