Plano police arrested 64-year-old teacher Paul Campbell Wednesday on a charge of continuous sexual abuse of a child. Campbell, a longtime educator at Brinker Elementary School in Plano ISD, faces allegations of inappropriate physical contact with an 8-year-old student at the campus.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant after investigating a student’s outcry regarding the alleged abuse. Campbell was taken into custody at the Plano ISD administration building and booked into the Plano City Jail.
Campbell had been employed by Plano ISD for more than 25 years. The district said it is cooperating fully with the investigation, reported the incident to the Texas Education Agency and State Board for Educator Certification, and has initiated action regarding his employment status.
Plano ISD emphasized that the alleged conduct “is reprehensible and is completely inconsistent with the values and expectations we hold for all Plano ISD employees.” The district did not release additional details about the specific allegations or timeline of the reported incidents.
Plano Police Department released a statement on the arrest Wednesday afternoon. No injuries or fatalities were reported in connection with the case.
