Plans to build a massive warehouse near Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas are on hold, for now.
A Dallas County civil court judge has sided with the church, agreeing that building a warehouse near the church will cause irreparable harm so the judge has issued a temporary injunction to stop construction.
A trial date has now been set for April but attorneys for the church say they hope to work with the city to resolve the problem.
The warehouse site located between I-20 and Wheatland Road near Polk Street in South Dallas is zoned for commercial development, but the church says allowing the warehouse to be built would amount to environmental discrimination against a predominantly Black and Latino community because of the noise and traffic it would bring.
