The Colony Police Department has released a video of officers making a dramatic rescue. They saved a man from a car that had caught fire after a crash.

The wreck happened on South Colony Boulevard shortly after 1:00 a.m. on Friday. The car was pinned between two barriers separating the southbound and northbound lanes. Officers tried to put out the flames, but they kept re-igniting.

Body-camera video shows the officers using a metal breaching tool to break the vehicle's window - after they warned the driver of what they were about to do.

"I'm breaking the window," one officer yelled. "Stand back - I'm breaking your window!"

He then cut through the vehicle's air bag and helped pull the man to safety.

Police said the man was hospitalized for injuries he suffered during the crash. An officer was also hospitalized for smoke inhalation and is expected to be OK.
