The Lewisville Police Department is investigating after a fetus was found dead along the shoreline of Lewisville Lake on Friday morning.
Police said a resident reported the discovery around 8 a.m. near Lake Park Road.
Officers and investigators with the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office responded to the scene and searched the area for evidence before clearing the scene.
According to police, the fetus appeared to be between five and six months of gestation and appeared to have been intentionally discarded along the shoreline.
The medical examiner's office is working to determine the fetus' identity and other characteristics as the investigation continues.
