The Sunnyvale Police Department says they have arrested the male suspect that led them on a high-speed chase in Sunnyvale Thursday evening after shooting at police.

The male suspect was identified as 20-year-old Omar Robledo. He was unarmed at the time of capture and officials are in the process of handing him over to the Kaufman County Sheriff's Department.

Reports say police in Kaufman County were chasing Robledo who was driving a stolen car out of Carrollton when he bailed out and ran for it in Sunnyvale, shooting at police as he ran.

The chase ended after they say he collided with another car, fired shots at deputies and ran off. An unidentified passenger in the car was arrested and the search for Robledo went on overnight.

Sunnyvale police quickly put out a shelter-in-place order for the Meadowlake Subdivision. SWAT teams from neighboring departments and at least from as far away as Austin were called in to help set up the perimeter.

Due to the search Sunnyvale ISD ended up canceling classes for the day as the police searched for the dangerous suspect.
