Police in North Richland Hills shoot a woman who threatened them with a knife.
Police got a call before noon Tuesday about a woman in crisis described as 'out of control'.
When police got to the apartment complex on Rufe Snow Drive - they saw the woman breaking things in the parking lot before going inside.
When police knocked on the door - she went outside - and threatened an officer with a knife while advancing towards him. Police say that's when the officer shot her.
She survived, and her condition has stabilized as she recovers at the hospital.
Police say there will be a criminal investigation, as well as one to determine if the officer followed department policies.
The officer was not hurt, and is on routine leave while the investigation is underway.
