Six Flags Over Texas has finally opened its highly anticipated Tormenta Rampaging Run dive coaster after delaying the original June 26 launch for additional testing on the intense ride.
KRLD's Tristan Rines was one of the first people on a special media preview day to ride the new attraction.
The record-breaking attraction, inspired by Spain’s Running of the Bulls, is the centerpiece of the new Rancho de la Tormenta area in Arlington, which also features Cocina Abuela, a Spanish and Latin American-themed restaurant.
Tormenta Rampaging Run, designed by Bolliger & Mabillard, stands 309 feet tall and will reach speeds of 87 mph. It features a 95-degree beyond-vertical drop, multiple inversions, sharp turns, and airtime moments. Upon opening, it will break six world records for dive coasters, including tallest, fastest, longest, tallest vertical loop, highest Immelmann inversion, and highest beyond-vertical drop.
