FANNIN COUNTY (1080 KRLD)- Texas DPS says preliminary investigation over an aircraft that crashed in Fannin County Wednesday evening shows the aircraft was stolen.

The Addison Police Department and Texas DPS say the aircraft was stolen from ATP Flight School in Addison and crashed onto an open field about 80 miles northeast in Fannin County about 8:26 p.m. Wednesday.

The pilot, now identified as 23-year-old Logan Timothy James from Stokesdale, NC was pronounced deceased at the scene and there were no passengers in the aircraft.

It was found out that James did not respond back to the air traffic controller when they were trying to reach out to him. He was also a student at the flight school, meaning he had key and access to the plane.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board will be looking over the investigation. Addison PD will look into how the plane was stolen.

This is a developing story, come back for updates. Listen to 1080 KRLD for the latest.
