President Donald Trump will deliver his first State of the Union address of his second term Tuesday night.
SMU Political Science Professor Dr. Cal Jillson expects the speech to be filled with claims of great accomplishments but also issues that have irritated the president.
"His description of the economy will be that it is hitting on all cylinders and as good as it's ever been," Jillson said. "He'll spend a good bit of time also talking about elections that have been stolen from him or Supreme Court decisions that were embarrassingly deficient."
Jillson expects advisers close to the president will urge him to not insult Supreme Court Justices to their faces during the speech after last week's ruling on tariffs.
"Calling them names as he did right out of the gate after that decision on tariffs is not a good strategy long term," Jillson said.
