Princeton police officer injured in shooting altercation with a suspect

PRINCETON (1080 KRLD)- A police officer was injured in a shooting in the Collin County city of Princeton early Thursday morning, police say.

Princeton police said an officer responded to a report of an assault just after 3 a.m. in the 1600 block of Princeton Drive. The suspect fired at the officer, and the officer returned fire. Both sustained gunshot wounds and both are in stable condition at area hospitals, according to Princeton police.

The shooter will face a charge of aggravated assault against a public servant. The investigation is being handled by the Texas Rangers.
