The Prosper Independent School District says School Board President Andrew Wilborn has resigned. Wilborn was arrested Wednesday in Dallas for indecency with a child.
Dallas Police say they started investigating last year when the church where Wilborn worked reported he had touched a 16 year old girl inappropriately. Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church says it notified police immediately and fired Wilborn.
The arrest warrant affidavit says several adults also complained about Wilborn's behavior. The affidavit says police talked with the girl at Dallas Children's Advocacy Center.
Thursday evening, several parents held a prayer vigil outside Prosper ISD's administration building.
"Unfortunately in Prosper ISD, we have a lot more skeletons in our closet than they are being transparent about," one parent said, citing the case of a bus driver who was arrested in the fall on charges he molested two students. Frank Paniagua committed suicide in Collin County Jail.
That case led to protests where parents demanded Prosper ISD administrators resign. Parents said the district did not notify them immediately about accusations against Paniagua.
Prosper ISD says Wilborn's case did not involve a student, and the school board would meet next week to decide how to fill his position.
"This is a criminal matter outside his role in the district and, to the best of our knowledge, this situation does not involve any Prosper ISD students," the district wrote in a statement.
