A determined young raccoon is back to exploring Dallas — this time without a mayonnaise jar on her head.
Dallas Animal Services says the raccoon, nicknamed "Mayonesa," spent several days evading rescuers while roaming a neighborhood with the jar stuck over her head.
The furry escape artist's luck ran out Monday when officers found her in a tree near an abandoned house. After patiently waiting for the right moment, Officer Southerland safely captured her as she climbed down and wandered past.
At Dallas Animal Services, Mayonesa was sedated just enough for staff to remove the jar. Aside from being dehydrated after days without food and water, she was healthy, energetic and ready to leave her unusual fashion statement behind.
