Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is facing a civil lawsuit filed in Dallas County in which a former girlfriend alleges he repeatedly physically assaulted her during their relationship and is seeking more than $1 million in damages.

The complaint, filed this week in Dallas County civil court, accuses Rice of multiple instances of physical abuse that the plaintiff claims caused physical injuries, emotional distress and financial harm. The lawsuit alleges the incidents occurred during the course of their relationship, though specific dates and locations are outlined in court filings.

Rice has not been criminally charged in connection with the allegations outlined in the civil complaint. A civil lawsuit is separate from any potential criminal investigation and focuses on financial damages rather than criminal penalties.

The filing seeks more than $1 million in damages, citing medical expenses, pain and suffering, and other losses. Under Texas law, civil plaintiffs must prove their claims by a preponderance of the evidence, a lower standard than the beyond-a-reasonable-doubt threshold required in criminal cases.

Rice, a former SMU standout, is entering his third NFL season with the Chiefs. He has previously faced legal scrutiny in North Texas tied to an unrelated multi-vehicle crash in 2024, which resulted in criminal charges that remain pending in Dallas County.

As of publication, no response to the civil complaint had been filed on Rice’s behalf in the Dallas County court record. It is not clear whether mediation or a court date has been scheduled.

KRLD has reached out to attorneys representing both parties for comment. This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
