Long lines and record turnouts as Texans showed up at the polls for the first day of early voting.
Nearly 60,000 votes were cast in Dallas County according to voting officials, and more than 42,000 people voted in Tarrant County.
An estimated 39,000 votes were cast in Collin County.
In Harris County, which include Houston, officials say a record 128,000 votes were cast.
Early voting continues today and through October 30th, so will the record turn outs continue? UNT political science professor Kimi King says the lines are longer in part because straight party voting has been eliminated, and that might deter some voters.
Reports say some voters waited in line for hours to cast their early vote.
