Fort Worth Congresswoman Kay Granger has announced she will not run for reelection, ending a three-decade career in Congress.
A statement released early Wednesday morning from Granger says, "serving my community has been the greatest honor and I have always fought to improve the lives of my constituents."
Granger is now 80 years old and has represented the Texas 12th Congressional District since 1997. She currently chairs the powerful House Appropriations Committee.
"Although I am not running for re-election, I plan to serve out the remainder of my term and work with our new Speaker and my colleagues to advance our conservative agenda and finish the job I was elected to do," said Granger in her statement.
