Less than a year after his retirement, long-time Arlington firefighter Jim Self has died.
Self spent 32 years with the Arlington Fire Department, working his way up the ranks to become Assistant Fire Chief. He retired in April of last year.
A social media post from the Arlington Professional Fire Fighters Association states that Self died from what is described as "occupational cancer."
Through the night, social media tributes were posted saying Self was "a great leader" and "a good man" and will be "greatly missed."
