Retired TSA explosives dog from North Richland Hills is semi-finalist in a national competition

A North Richland Hills dog is one of the semi-finalists in the National Hero Dog Awards competition.

The dog named Dzasper is one of five semi-finalists in the Law Enforcement and First Responder category. Dzasper is a 9-year-old German Short-haired Pointer now retired from service with the Transportation Security Administration.

While working for the TSA, Dzasper was as a certified explosives canine. He met TSA's rigorous guidelines year after year.

Beside working at DFW Airport, he was also deployed to sniff for bombs at numerous city festivals plus high-profile assignments at SMU football games, Dallas Cowboys games, the 2019 Super Bowl in Atlanta and sweeps of former President George W. Bush venues and his airplane.
