A $25,000 reward is now being offered for information that helps Plano police track down the driver involved in a fatal hit and run accident that killed a young mother.
A heartbroken mother is pleading with the unidentified driver to turn themselves in. She tells NBC 5 her daughter, 29-year-old Leah Daniels, was a terrific person and mother to her 5-year- old son.
Daniels was killed Monday night after he car stalled out in the southbound lanes of US 75 at Legacy Drive in Plano.
Police say at first, Daniels' car was rear-ended. The people in that car managed to get to safety, but when Daniels tried to follow she was hit by a semi truck.
Police reports say the impact sent her flying into traffic, where she was hit by another car.
“Of all of the witnesses who saw what they saw, it’s going to be traumatic for the days, weeks and years to come. But we want to bring some resolution to this family,” said Officer Andrae Smith, spokesman for the Plano Police Department.
Police are searching for the driver of the semi truck, who is the only one who didn't stop. They're asking everyone to keep an eye out for an older model Peterbilt 389 semi may have damage on the front left panel.
