Richardson closing its animal shelter today and tomorrow as part of a major renovation project.
Voters approved funding to improve the Richardson Animal Shelter in 2021. Construction is about to begin on the project.
The shelter will be closed starting Monday to give staffers time to move into a temporary facility next door to the current location on Columbia Drive. Construction is scheduled to run through next year.
Officials say the shelter will reopen on Wednesday of this week and there will be a fenced-in area for people considering adoption to visit with the animals.
