It's the time of the year when all of North Texas turns into a winter wonderland to celebrate Christmas. There are Christmas parades going on starting this weekend.
One of the longest-running parades is in the city of Richardson.
It marks the 51st annual Richardson Christmas Parade for the Network of Community Ministries.
Richardson Director of Parks and Recreation Yvonne Falgout joined KRLD's David Rancken to discuss the event.
Richardson isn't the only North Texas city hosting a holiday event this weekend. Check out the list below for the festivities in your city.
Little Elm is hosting its Christmas Parade and Fireworks Show Friday at 7 p.m.
Mansfield's Hometown Holiday events kicks off at 5 p.m. Friday at the LOT Downtown. The city will do its annual tree lighting followed by a drone show.
Lewisville's two-day Holiday Stroll begins tonight and features hayrides, band performances, activities, and more. The tree lighting is tonight at 6:30 p.m. A pancake breakfast with Santa and a motorcycle toy run tomorrow morning.
Dallas' 36th Annual Holiday Parade is also at 9 a.m., but festivities run from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The parade begins at Commerce and Houston and ends at Akard and Young.
In Carrollton, they'll hold the Santa on the Square event from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. It will feature Santa and his sleigh will help light up the square. People can enjoy a Giant snow globe, live reindeer, toy soldiers, crafts, and more in the Historic Downtown square.
Denton's Holiday Lighting Festival starts Saturday at 3 p.m. - with an afternoon of musical and dance performances, horse-drawn carriage rides, crafts, visits with Santa, and other activities.
Flower Mound's Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting starts at 6 p.m. with the tree lighting at 7:20 p.m. It's preceded by a Reindeer Run 5K and Grinch Sprint starting at 9 a.m. The event features food trucks, activities, and performances by local choirs and bands.
The Colony has its Holiday in the Park and Parade of Lights Saturday at 6 p.m.
