A Richland High School student has been arrested after threatening a teacher with a knife.
North Richland Hills Police Officer Carissa Katekaru says the incident happened Friday morning before school. She says the teacher and student were alone in a room when the student pulled the knife.
There were no other students in the room at the time. The student has been removed from the campus.
Katekaru could not say more about the student or possible charges because of juvenile privacy laws.
"The teacher did a great job de-escalating the situation, and neither the student nor the teacher were injured" said a release from school officials on the Birdville schools website.
The school has a metal detector, but the Birdville ISD says that detector was apparently not being used at the time.
