A Richland Hills man is going to prison for decades after admitting he murdered his grandson one year ago.
In January of 2023, police reports say 8-year-old Brenym McDonald was found dead in his grandfather's home. The grandfather, Phillip Hughes, was captured about a block away and charged with capital murder of a child younger than ten years old.
Hughes pleaded guilty and has been sentenced to 35 years.
Hughes is currently 62 years old so if he served the whole term he'd be 97 when he's released from prison.
