Rolls Royce "Ghost" arrives in DFW

A Rolls Royce model described as the company's most "technologically advanced" vehicle yet has arrived in North Texas. The company says only 13 are in the United States, and the cars will not be available for sale until 2021.

"The inside of Ghost is extremely silent," says Gerry Spahn, with Rolls Royce Motor Cars North America. "The engineers have gone through and tested and toned every single piece."

The Rolls Royce Ghost starts at $332,500. Spahn says North Texas has remained a strong market for luxury cars because the region has potential buyers wealthy enough not to have been significantly affected by the pandemic.

But Spahn described the Ghost as "post-opulent."

"The whole concept behind Ghost is to make it a calming, quiet experience," he says. "It's not about the 'bling.' It's not about blinding you with incredible craftsmanship. What our Ghost owners want is luxury, and they want it simple. When you commission a Rolls Royce, you know you're paying for luxury. You don't want it in your face."

Each Rolls Royce is custom ordered.

The exterior is described as "cleaner" and more "visually modest." Inside, the car has a function that can lower the Rolls Royce hood ornament at the press of a button.

The Ghost is 17 feet long but uses all wheel steering. Inside, the Ghost uses a series of cameras to create a 360 degree view to make parking easier.

"What's great is the turn radius is shortened. The rear wheels steer the same direction as the front wheels, and it makes it more agile, a really nimble turn," Spahn says. "It just makes the car feel smaller and more nimble. We've done everything we can to make it easier, more fun, more relaxing to drive."

The view from the cameras can even provide an overheard view.

The Rolls-Royce Ghost is equipped with a 6.75 liter, twin-turbo V12 engine with 563 horsepower.
