Sansom Park police have arrested a man they say was drunk when he hit a cop on New Year's Eve.

Police in the Tarrant County town of Sansom Park say one of their officers was driving through the intersection of Jacksboro Highway and Skyline Drive Sunday night just after 11:00 p.m. when the driver of another vehicle failed to yield the right of way and turned at a yellow light.

The officer's patrol car was hit.

The officer and his canine unit were both able to get out of the vehicle after the crash and were examined at the scene. The officer was later checked out at the hospital and is expected to be ok.

Police say a man identified as Roger Saenz-Blandon is charged with driving while intoxicated.
